    Events at Murray Edwards College

    We hold a range of events for school students throughout the year. Some of these events are subject specific, while others are designed to offer a more general insight into College life and studying at Cambridge.

    College Open Days

    Primarily for high achieving young women in Year 12.

    • Talk with academic Fellows and current students
    • Find out about the application process
    • Take a College tour
    • Get a feel for what life is like as a Cambridge student
     

    Subject taster days

     

    For young women in Year 12 who would like to find out more about what it is like to study a particular subject at Cambridge University.

    • Take part in subject taster sessions led by academics from Murray Edwards College
    • Find out about the Cambridge application process
    • Meet current students who are studying the subject
     
    Low Participation Neighbourhood Summer School

    This summer school is designed to encourage academically able students – from areas of the country where students are less likely to enter higher education – to consider making applications to top universities, including Cambridge.

    For school students in Year 12 in Greater Manchester, Derbyshire and Haringey who are seriously considering applications to Cambridge.

    Friday 8 and Thursday 28 February 2019
    Aspiration Days

    For school students in Year 10 from Greater Manchester, Derbyshire and Haringey who may aspire to university and who are beginning to consider the choices ahead.

    • Hear about post-GCSE opportunities and options including A Level choices
    • Take a College tour

    She Talks Science Conference

    A one-day conference for young women in Year 12 who are considering studying STEM subjects at a top universities.

    • Hear inspiring women talk about their careers in science
    • Take part in an academic seminar about a topical science issue
    • Find out about the Cambridge application process
    Saturday 27 April 2019
    Pathways to Success conference

    An overnight event for high achieving young women in Year 12.

    • Hear about the different perceptions of what 'success' looks like in the world of work
    • Take part in an academic seminar in a subject of interest
    • Make sense of academic and career choices

    She Talks Science  Teachers' Conference

    A one-day conference for sixth form science teachers and leaders:

    • Hear from Murray Edwards Science Fellows about their research and their experiences of teaching science to women at university
    • Discuss your own experiences of preparing women to study science at university
    Tuesday 9 July 2019
    She Talks Science STEP Summer School

    A two-night residential for young women in Year 12 who are intending to study maths at a top university.

    • Participate in workshops dealing with the type of maths found in STEP exams
    • Take part in lectures given by members of the University of Cambridge Maths Faculty
    • Hear about career opportunities available to maths graduates

    Shadowing Scheme

    Run in conjunction with Cambridge University Students' Union. Please see their website for more details.

    • Shadow a current undergraduate
    • Get a feel for life as a Cambridge student
