Students for this year's campaign - which runs from 20th March - 2 April 2023 - are featured below.

    Carina

    What subject are you studying?
    I am a second-year history student.

Why are you taking part in the Telephone Campaign?
I would love to connect with alumnae and hear about their experiences while at Cambridge. Also, I would like to give back to the community that has provided me with a home during difficult academic times.

What does Murray Edwards mean to you?
To me, Murray Edwards means community and support. The range of extracurriculars provided within the college has helped me to get out of my comfort zone and develop new skills while feeling like part of a wider community. This support has helped me preserve and enjoy my time at university.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time at College?
I am a W1 rower with the Murray Edwards Boat Club, and I am the treasurer for the Murray Edwards Garden Party 2023.

At college I’m a member of the netball club and also rowed for a couple of years, and I enjoy spending time with my friends in the gardens and the bar.

    Freya

    What subject are you studying?
I am a first year Human Social and Political Sciences student.

Why are you taking part in the Telephone Campaign?
I’m taking part in the Telephone Campaign as I’m really interested in hearing about the different experiences that alumni have had during their time at Murray Edwards and after graduating!

What does Murray Edwards mean to you?I really enjoy being a student at Murray Edwards-  I think the students and college staff are all really welcoming and I love how relaxed it feels for a Cambridge college. I also think it’s such a unique place to be a student- not many people get to say their university accommodation features a giant concrete dome designed by the same people as the Barbican!

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time at College?
During my spare time I play a lot of hockey, being a member of the Cambridge University Hockey Club Women’s 4s Team, also known as the Rovers. I also enjoy attending many of the social events on at college- whether that be formals, societies or evenings in the bar!

    Antonia

I'm in my second year studying Sociology and Social Anthropology in the Human, Social and Political Sciences tripos.

Why are you taking part in the Telephone Campaign?
    1. Financially, every little helps, 2. I feel like it will encourage me to revise (at least a little bit) in the vacation, and 3. I get to hang out with my college wife! It will also be a chance for me to learn a new skill and talk to some interesting alumni!

What does Murray Edwards mean to you?
I am one of the few that directly applied to Medwards, so I do see the beauty in its brutalist walls. I always feel comfortable shuffling around college in my slippers, and when I see the mound of dome after climbing the hill after a long day out, I feel happy. Dome is home <3

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time at College?
I enjoy BME pizza night because it's a great opportunity to catch up with people across years. I also like going to the library-run arts & crafts sessions because it's a nice break from work, and I walk out with handmade earrings to show off to everyone

    Engineering.

Why are you taking part in the Telephone Campaign?

What does Murray Edwards mean to you?
I wouldn't say Murray Edwards is your traditional Cambridge college, but that's more than made up for with the people here and the beautiful gardens we have! I've always felt very welcome, and it will be a place I'll always look on with great memories.
