Getting to know us

Choosing what and where you want to study is very important.  We offer a range of events, visits and activities to help you get to know more about us - and the University of Cambridge in general - so that you can feel confident when it comes to making an application.

College Open Days

Year 12 Thursday 21 February

Primarily for high achieving young women in Year 12.

  • Talk with academic Fellows and current students
  • Find out about the application process

She Talks Science conference Year 12  Saturday 27 April

Our new one-day conference aimed at Year 12 students who are passionate about science.

  • Talk to inspiring women about their careers in science
  • Take part in academic seminars about topical science issues
  • Find out what top universities look for in applications
Application Days Year 12 8th Februray and 28th February

For school students in Year 12 in Greater Manchester, Derbyshire and Haringey who are seriously considering applications to Cambridge

  • Find out about the Application Process
  • Participate in an interview workshop
  • Find out about extended reading
  • Talk with undergraduates about student life at Cambridge
Aspiration Days Year 10 13 February, 26 February and 27 March

For school students in Year 10 from Greater Manchester, Derbyshire and Haringey who may aspire to university and who are beginning to consider the choices ahead

  • Hear about post-GCSE opportunities and options including A-level choices
  • Look around a Cambridge college


She Talks Science  Teachers' Conference Science Teachers Tuesday 9 July

A one-day conference for sixth form science teachers and leaders:

  • Hear from Murray Edrwads Science Fellows about their research and their experiences of teaching science to women at university
  • Discuss your own experiences of preparing women to study science at university
Pathways to Success conference Year 12  25-26 and 26-27 June

A very popular overnight event for high achieving young women in Year 12.

  • Be informed and inspired through discussions and talks
  • Hear about the different perceptions of what ‘success’ looks like in the world of work
  • Make sense of academic and career choices
She Talks Science STEP Summer School Year 12 Wednesday 21 - Friday 23 August

For female students currently in Year 12 who are intending to study maths at top universities.

  • An overview of STEP
  • Workshops dealing with the type of maths found in STEP exams
  • Taster lectures given by members of the University of Cambridge Maths Faculty
  • Lectures on how a maths degree connects to a variety of career opportunities

Shadowing Scheme Year 12 January

Individual visits Any age January to October We would be delighted to accommodate visits from interested individuals (and supporters) across the year. Our Schools Liaison Officer, Catherine Rowley, a recent Cambridge graduate herself, will be happy to help you.
