    Aiming High and applying to Cambridge

    Choosing what and where you want to study is very important.  We offer a range of events, visits and other activities to help you to learn more and to make good choices.

    We welcome interest from outstanding young women from all backgrounds.

    Pathways to Success conference  July
    • Be informed and inspired through discussions and talks
    • Hear about the different perceptions of what ‘success’ looks like in the world of work
    • Make sense of academic and career choices

    A very popular overnight event for high achieving young women in Year 12. 

    College Open Days

    July and September
    • Talk with academic Fellows and current students
    • Find out about the application process
    • Take a College tour
    • Get a feel for what life is like as a Cambridge student

    Primarily for high achieving young women in Years 12 and 13.

    Applications Days Spring and Summer
    • Find out about the application process
    • Experience an academic taster session with an academic Fellow of the college
    • Participate in an interview workshop
    • Talk with undergraduates about student life at Cambridge

    For school students in Year 12 who are seriously considering applications to Cambridge.

    Exploration Days Spring
    • Advice on making a competitive application
    • A tour of the college
    • A chance to talk with current undergraduates about life as a student
    • A session on exploring subject-specific extra-curricular reading.

    For Year 11 students of all genders, this day aims to introduce the idea of extra-curricular reading for those aiming for top universities

    Aspiration Days Spring and Summer
    • Hear about post-GCSE opportunities and options including A-level choices
    • See around a Cambridge college

    For school students in Year 10 who may aspire to university and who are beginning to consider the choices ahead.

    Aiming high: She Talks Science conference April
    • Talk to inspiring women about their careers in science
    • Take part in academic seminars about topical science issues
    • Find out what top universities look for in applications

    Our new one-day conference aimed at Year 12 students who are passionate about science.

    She Talks Science blog School year
    • Share your passion for science
    • Be inspired by the interests and activities of others

    We  include items from successful women in science, current undergraduate students and winning school entries. Get involved!

    Shadowing Scheme January
    • Shadow a current undergraduate
    • Get a feel for life as a Cambridge student

    Run in conjunction with Cambridge University Students' Union. Please see their website for more details.

    Offerholders Overnight Stay March
    • Experience life in a Cambridge College
    • Begin building connections with current students
    • Get an early taste of all the opportunities the College offers

    Unique to Murray Edwards and open only to those holding offers.

    Individual visits January to October Many schools and students choose to visit during one of our structured events listed above. These have all been developed following useful feedback from schools about what is most helpful.  However, we can also accommodate individual visits from schools and students at various times of the year. Our Schools Liaison Officer, Catherine Rowley, a recent Cambridge graduate herself, will be happy to help you.
