As part of its She Talks Science initiative, Murray Edwards College is holding a STEP (Sixth Term Examination Papers) summer school for female students currently in Year 12 who are intending to study maths at top level universities.
This intensive three-day residential course, which is free of charge, is designed to introduce STEP and to equip students with the skills needed for the examinations, as well as offering an insight into university life. The course will include:
- An overview of STEP
- Workshops dealing with the type of maths found in the STEP exams
- Taster lectures given by members of the University of Cambridge Maths faculty.
- Lectures on how a maths degree connects to a variety of career opportunities.
The course will also provide the opportunity to engage with Cambridge academics and students involved in the study of mathematics, as well as others who are hoping to study mathematics at undergraduate level.
50 places are available and applications will be assessed on academic merit within the field of mathematics.
Further details on applying for a place will be available in due course.
