Sophie Crofton

Sophie joined the College in February 2026 as Head of Philanthropy on a fixed-term maternity cover contract until February 2027. She leads on major gifts in support of the College’s strategic priorities and works closely with colleagues across the institution to develop and shape initiatives that reflect its founding commitment to opportunity, inclusion, and academic excellence. Sophie also collaborates on legacies, appeals, and campaigns, and works alongside the wider Development team to align fundraising, alumnae engagement, and communications, ensuring supporters can see the tangible impact of their generosity.

Sophie brings considerable experience in raising philanthropic support for schools and universities. She has held senior fundraising roles at Eton College and University College School and was a member of the Principal Gifts team at the University of Oxford. More recently, she has worked in executive search and consultancy, advising charities and higher education institutions. Throughout her career, she has been motivated by the belief that education transforms lives and that philanthropy plays a vital role in widening access and opportunity.
