Green Impact TeamOn Friday 21 June 2019, 50 teams from Colleges and departments across the University came together for the Green Impact Awards. These Awards recognise and celebrate all that has been achieved over the last year in terms of reducing environmental impact and improving sustainability.

There were five levels of Team Awards: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Excellence. There was also an opportunity for individuals to nominate colleagues for their contribution to sustainability in the Special Awards section.

We are delighted to say that Murray Edwards College was one of 13 Colleges/departments to be presented with a ‘Gold’ Green Impact Award. This Award recognises the College’s efforts to go the extra mile in order to tackle environmental issues such as biodiversity, procurement and sustainable food. In addition to this fantastic achievement, Grainne Hutton (MPhil, MEC) won the ‘Student Leadership Award’ and our Gardens Team won the ‘Community Action Award’.

Teri Byrne, Catering Operations Manager, commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive a Gold Green Impact Award. Everyone on the team has worked so hard to achieve this and I am hugely proud of what we have done. Many congratulations to Grainne, Jo (Head Gardener) and the rest of the Gardens team who thoroughly deserve their individual awards.”
