A very warm welcome to Caitlin Sparksman who recently joined the Gardens Team at College.

Welcome to Murray Edwards, how does it feel to be here?

I'm really happy to be working here. When I was doing my WRAGS (Work + Retrain as a Gardener) training, I helped out with projects such as planting up the bulbs in the lawn in Orchard Court, so to now be a part of the garden team is wonderful.

Has anything surprised you about the College since you joined?

I'm really impressed with the New Hall Art Collection in the College. How lucky to have this in the workplace!

Can you tell us a little bit about your role and what it involves?

The role of the garden team is so varied. We might be pruning, planting, grass cutting or maintaining all the different areas of the College gardens. I'm looking forward to planting vegetables and herbs for the students and I really enjoy helping look after the large containers and pots at the front of the College. The Acacia trees are in flower at the moment - so beautiful.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

    When somebody speaks, listen completely.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Gardening at home as well! I have too many houseplants! I also like yoga and read a lot.
