    14 March 2019

On Tuesday 12 March, we welcomed over 100 young women to Murray Edwards College for the annual Offer Holders’ Overnight Stay.

The event, which has been running for over 15 years and is a highlight in the College calendar, gives our offer holders the opportunity to visit us overnight so they can get a sense of what life is like here and really begin to feel at home.

Catherine Rowley, Schools’ Liaison Officer at Murray Edwards, comments: “Giving offer holders the opportunity to meet current students, attend lectures and speak with the Fellows who will be teaching them next academic year, is one of the many things that makes Murray Edwards such a special College. We know the prospect of going to university can be daunting for many people and our aim is to reassure all our offer holders that Murray Edwards really is a home away from home.”

We spoke with some of the offer holders about what they thought of the event. Here is what they told us:

“Having been pooled to Murray Edwards, I hadn’t visited the College before today. I was a bit nervous before I came but now I can honestly say, I can’t wait to come back in October.”

“Everyone I’ve met has been so welcoming. The current students here are so lovely and the gardens are just beautiful. I wish I didn’t have to go home tomorrow!”

“Going to Formal Hall was a bit, well, scary to be honest. I didn’t know what to expect and was worried it would be a bit too ‘Cambridge’ for me but it wasn’t. It was just a lot of fun and a really great chance to get to know people.”

Many thanks to our Fellows, current students, staff and offer holders for making this year’s event such a success.
