    Dear students,

As we prepare for the start of the new academic year, I am writing to let you know about the #StaySafeCambridgeUni information campaign and webpages, where you will find information about how we will all protect ourselves and each other at Cambridge. Each of us has a responsibility to minimise the spread of COVID-19. We are members of a wider community and have a responsibility to others in Cambridge and beyond.

The University and Colleges have put together a clear set of measures designed to keep everyone as safe as possible while keeping restrictions to life in Cambridge to a minimum, and have been advised on these messages by our own academics from the Department of Psychology, who surveyed over 300 students and staff from across the University and Colleges. As well as guidance on measures such as face coverings, social distancing and the University’s COVID-19 testing facilities (free to all members of the University), the webpages include films and information on life at Cambridge. We will continue to provide updates on the website and on social media in the run-up to Michaelmas term, with more details on what to expect and contributions from our academics and experts.

When you are in Cambridge, you will see the #StaySafeCambridgeUni posters in your College and in University buildings. In an institution as varied as Cambridge there will inevitably be some differences between buildings and settings and so you should also look out for more specific, local guidance.

Cambridge offers rich opportunities for learning and we want you to enjoy living, working and studying here. As a member of the Collegiate University, you are part of a supportive community. Help is always available, either through the contacts detailed on the webpage for supporting students, or through your College’s Senior Tutor or nurse.

    With best wishes,
    Stephen J Toope
    Vice-Chancellor
