Engineering student, Julia Sinclair, won the second prize at Murray Edwards Art Competition on the 15 June with her photograph, Trapped.
She used a two micrometre glass microcapillary to suck single red blood cells for her fourth year project. The photograph is of an air bubble trapped inside it and here she explains its significance.
She says: "The photograph represents the hours I put in and the struggle of humans to emulate nature in a world where nature is no well adapted and as engineers, we are trying to meet that everyday."
