Politics, power and the constitution in medieval England, especially the 13th and 14th centuries.
Dr Spencer was born and educated in Sussex and attended King's College, London, before coming to Cambridge to study Medieval History at Peterhouse. His PhD on the English nobility in the reign of Edward I was supervised by Professor Christine Carpenter, then a fellow of New Hall. After working as a speech writer and researcher for an MP, he returned to Cambridge as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow of the British Academy at Corpus Christi College. He then moved to Christ's to become Admissions Tutor in 2013 and started at Murray Edwards in September 2016. He lives in Huntingdon with his wife, two children and cocker spaniel.
