Haruko Fukuda OBE

Stockbroker and Investment banker; former CEO of the World Gold Council.

With over 40 years’ experience in the financial services sector as stockbroker and investment banker, Haruko Fukuda has also held a number of non-executive directorships in banking, natural resources, automotive, and retail food industries. She was a Partner of the London stockbrokers James Capel & Co, Vice Chairman of Nikko Europe PLC, CEO of the World Gold Council, and Senior Adviser at Lazard.  She also served as a non-executive director of AB Volvo, Investec PLC and Ltd., and on several investment trust companies.  She was on the International Advisory Board of METRO Cash & Carry, and Adviser to the Braj Binani Group of India.

She is currently on the boards of a Fintech company, Glint Pay Ltd, and an international NGO, Arab International Women’s Forum.

She was appointed OBE for her services to UK-Japan relations in 2000. She was also Chairman of the Japan Society from 1995 to 2000, a founding trustee of the Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Oxford Foundation, and a member of the Council, The Institute for Fiscal Studies (2003-2013); she was awarded DSc (honoris causa) by The City University in 2000.
