Dr. Masami Ando-Kuri
BiographyMasami is a biomedical researcher whose work focuses on understanding how our cells behave in health and disease. Originally from Mexico, she studied genomic sciences before moving to the UK to complete her PhD in Medical Sciences at the University of Cambridge. Her interdisciplinary research combines cellular biology, molecular biology and data science techniques. Along the way, she has worked in research centres in Mexico, Canada, the United States, the Netherlands, and the UK, gaining international experience and building collaborations across disciplines. She now works at the Wellcome Sanger Institute as postdoctoral fellow, where she uses cutting-edge methods to study skin biology at single-cell resolution. Her work has already received international recognition, including a fellowship award from the IBSA Foundation. Beyond her research, she is passionate about mentoring the next generation of scientists and supporting women in science, combining her expertise with a commitment to building inclusive and empowering academic environments.
