Alumnae Weekend, Cambridge

Please join us for the much loved Alumnae Weekend festivities. As always we will hold our Alumnae Dinner in College on Saturday evening. On Saturday afternoon, the President, Dame Barbara, will give a lecture on our ground-breaking research Collaborating with Men  followed by a College update in conjunction with the  New Hall Society. On Sunday there will be a couple of guided tours to showcase our gardens, library and Art Collection.

We particularly welcome reunion years 1957, 1967, 1977, 1987, 1997 and 2007.

Please note: booking closes at 9am on Friday 8 September for all Murray Edwards Alumnae Weekend events.

 

Joint panel discussion on feminism with Lucy Cavendish and Newnham, Friday 22 September

Join Jackie Ashley, President of Lucy Cavendish, Professor Dame Carol Black, Principal of Newnham, and Dame Barbara Stocking, President of Murray Edwards, as well as an alumna from each College, for a panel discussion on "Feminism: back by popular demand? Women’s response to the rise of populism". The discussion will be chaired by Dr Jude Browne, The Jessica and Peter Frankopan Director of the University of Cambridge Centre for Gender Studies.

Collaborating with Men lecture and College update, Saturday 23rd September

Dame Barbara Stocking DBE and Dr Jill Armstrong will discuss ground-breaking research conducted by Murray Edwards College into behaviours and perceptions of men regarding women's workplace experiences, followed by a College update and Q&A.

Alumnae Dinner, Saturday 23rd September

All alumnae are invited to join this annual reunion dinner.

  • 6.15pm Drinks
  • 7.00pm Dinner

Tickets cost £40, which includes a drinks reception and three course meal with wine in the Fellows' Drawing Room. Graduates of the College from the last 10 years (2007 to 2017) are entitled to a reduced price ticket of £20 per person.

Artscape: the juxtaposition of art, architecture and landscape, Sunday 24th September

A tour of the New Hall Art Collection, the largest collection of works by women in Europe, and our gardens, including the original grounds of The Orchard, a large house part-owned by Norah Barlow, the granddaughter of Charles Darwin and a distinguished plantswoman. The tour will start and finish with tea in the Rosemary Murray Library where the Librarian will introduce you to the college, and hand you over to the Art Curator and Gardener for the tour.

Bedrooms are available in College on the nights of the 22nd September and 23rd September. A single en-suite is £72.15 and a twin en-suite is £117.80, including breakfast.
