A Slam-Dunk for Mia and the Panthers
Mia secures a big win in her new sport: basketball!
Congratulations to Mia and the Panthers for their big win against Nottingham University last week!
Mia, a History and Politics student, only started playing basketball in Week 3 of this term, after a fellow Medwards student introduced her to the sport. Even though she was a beginner, she earned a place training with The Panthers - the Women’s Basketball second team at Cambridge University.
In the short time she’s been playing, Mia has noticed a big improvement in her skills and her discipline. She shared, “What I love about basketball is that it makes me commit to something intense that I wouldn’t normally do - like 7AM training! It helps me to stay fit, make new friends, and be a part of something bigger than me.”
The win against Nottingham was a significant moment for the Panthers. The two teams had clashed earlier this year, resulting in a loss for Cambridge. This rematch (and Mia’s first ever away game!) saw the Panthers come into their own, securing a solid win of 37-33.
Are you interested in playing Basketball? Why not give it a go! The Panthers coaches are super friendly and very receptive to anyone who wishes to get involved!
