New Programme for Women Leaders in Biotech
She Steers, NEDs in Biotech empowers women to take on board-level roles within the lifesciences sector.
We are thrilled to share that applications are now open for our brand new programme She Steers: NEDs in Biotech!
Designed and delivered by Murray Edwards College (University of Cambridge), AstraZeneca, BioIndustry Association (BIA) and Deloitte, She Steers is aimed at women who are ready to step into their first Non-Executive Director (NED) role or to strengthen their effectiveness and impact as an existing NED in biotech industries.
This programme comes at a crucial crossroads for female board representation in lifesciences. Sector reports from PIR and others show female representation in NED roles is declining, and the BIA’s Women in biotech leadership report revealed that CEOs external stakeholder bias from investors and funders and/or board bias were the most prevalent challenges faced by female CEOs.
She Steers, NEDs in Biotech offers participants the chance to develop board-ready skills and confidence, as well as a clear route into their first (or next) NED Role, a trusted community of female leaders in their sector, and ongoing leadership development through post-programme support.

Applications for the programme close on February 13 2026.
