Events for Schools
School groups will be welcome to visit the College on designated days in the 2012/2013 academic year. We offer two different structured programmes (developed in response to feedback from schools). These are:
Applications Event - High achieving students considering Cambridge
For school students in years 11 and 12 who are seriously considering applications to Cambridge or other leading Russell Group universities.
2013 dates: 28th February, 20th March, 10th April.
Aspirations Event - Wider ability range and/or younger students aspiring to university
For school students in years 10 and 11 who may aspire to university and who are beginning to consider the choices ahead.
2013 dates: 20th February, 19th March, 11th April.
Murray Edwards College’s Schools Liaison Officer, Jess Burrows, organises the school visits to the College. To book places for your school on any of these visits please e-mail her on email@example.com.
Please note that places are limited.
Details of our larger college and university Open Days can be found on our Open Dayspage.
To try to encourage as many gifted students to apply to Murray Edwards College as possible, our Schools Liaison Officer, Jess Burrows, travels to schools to talk with students in years 10, 11, 12 or 13 about the benefits of higher education and attending top universities like Cambridge. These visits are tailored to the schools' needs, and can be arranged outside school hours so as not to disrupt lessons if preferred. If your school would be interested in receiving a visit from Jess, she is currently planning her programme for 2013 and would be happy to consider including your school. You can contact Jess to request a visit by e-mail, phone or post (contact details below).
As part of the University-wide Schools Liaison programme, Colleges are linked with specific Local Education Authorities to help develop links within those areas. In addition to the school visits programme, described above, Murray Edwards College is also developing links with schools and colleges in LEA's found in Derbyshire, Greater Manchester and the London borough of Haringey. More details can be found on the University's College area linksweb page.
