Anglo-Saxon, Norse and CelticAnglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic gives students the opportunity to discover a period not usually studied at school, or even most universities. The tripos provides a comprehensive introduction to the early medieval cultures of the British Isles, Scandinavia and Brittany, with papers on history, language and literature (Latin and vernacular), and manuscript studies. After the first year, students can specialise in the subjects that interest them most, and can 'borrow' papers in archaeology or in other languages, as well as writing a dissertation on a topic of their choice. Part II offers more advanced papers in the Department's core subjects, and all students write a dissertation. Further information studying Anglo-Saxon, Norse & Celtic at Cambridge is available on the website of the Department of Anglo-Saxon, Norse & Celtic. Checked by ER, August 2011 |
