Guide and Information for Easter Term 2012 Going Down Form
Easter Full Term ends on Friday 15 June and term on Monday 25 June.
The Going Down form, linked to at the bottom of this page, must be completed by all undergraduates and returned by 5pm, Wednesday 23 May. If, after completing the Going Down form, you need to amend your Going Down/Coming up dates, please contact the Accommodation Office at down-form@murrayedwards.cam.ac.uk.
A £10.00 administration charge will be incurred if:
- The Accommodation Office does not receive notification of your going down date or your coming up date by the required deadline of Wednesday 23 May
- You change your going down/coming up date after the required deadline date
Please Note: If you are returning before the 1 October you must inform the Accommodation Office (accommodation@murrayedwards.cam.ac.uk) before Friday 7 September.
If changes are unavoidable due to flight cancellations, etc. then appeals should be made, in writing, to the Rooms Tutor, Mrs Nicola Cavaleri (nch23@cam.ac.uk) with appropriate supporting documentation.
Residence out of Full Term
The rent for a room during the vacation (25 June – 1 October) will be charged at the appropriate rate. Student Accounts will be billed for the whole period advised by the Accommodation office. Settlement should be in full or at regular intervals agreed with Mrs Jane Day.

Keys
If you do not return your key when signing out you could be liable to pay rent until it is returned. Do not forget to sign the going down list at the Porters' Lodge
Buckingham House
As Buckingham House is a commercial building and forms part of the investment portfolio of the College, for this building students, without exception, should vacate the day following the end of Full Term (i.e. Saturday 16 June at midday). They may be placed elsewhere at the appropriate rent if a temporary room is available. Students may occupy their Buckingham House rooms on the Sunday before the start of Full Term (i.e. Sunday 2 October 2011). Anyone arriving before this date will be allocated a temporary room if one is available.
Rooms and Kitchens
All of your belongings must be cleared from your room. Please leave your room clean and tidy with College linen, if you have it, folded neatly on the bed and take bottles to the bottle bank, please. Extra charges may be incurred if your room is left in an unsatisfactory condition. Posters must be removed from all walls and notice boards. All kitchen cupboards must be cleared and padlocks removed on the day you vacate your room.
Refrigerators
There is no storage available for refrigerators and, if you have one, you must make your own arrangements to have yours removed from College before or at the same time you vacate your room. Any fridges not belonging to the College found in rooms, corridors or the bulk store, will be disposed of after the end of Term i.e. Monday 25 June.
Storage
Bulk Store: Located in the basement of Pearl House
- The store will be open from 11 June – 1 July, Monday – Friday only between 7.30 am – 3.30 pm
- Each student will be limited to one trunk or two plastic storage containers/suitcases at a charge of £5.00 per student. (Replacement plastic storage containers will be charged at £15.00 each if not returned to the Accommodation Office.)
- Items in black bin bags or any kind of holdall will not be accepted
- Your suitcase/storage containers must be labelled with name, date and email address
- You will be required to sign your personal items in and out at the Accommodation Office
- The key will not be issued from the Porters' Lodge
- Please make sure there are no belongings left in your room. Any belongings that do get left may be disposed of.
Valuable Store: Located in the basement of New Block
- The store will be open from 11 June – 1 July, Monday – Friday only between 7.30am – 3.30 pm
- This is strictly for valuable items only e.g musical instruments/computer equipment
- All items must be labelled with name, date and email address
- You will be required to sign your personal items in and out at the Accommodation Office
Buckingham House
The main College Bulk Store terms apply. Please see notice attached to Trunk Store cupboards in Buckingham House.
Cycles
You must make arrangements to have your cycle removed from College by Monday 2 July. If, for some reason, you cannot remove it you must register it with the Senior Porter and have his permission to leave it. Cycles left in the cycle store without permission and registration will be removed and disposed of.
Address
Please leave your address, if different from your home address, with the Porters, so that your mail can be forwarded.
