Ruth Ahnert: PhD in English 2006-2010I arrived at what was then New Hall in 2002 as an undergraduate to read English. I applied to New Hall after finishing my A levels on the advice of a teacher in my sixth form who had studied in Cambridge and knew the colleges. At that time I was at Art College doing a one-year Foundation course, and the fact that New Hall had a world renowned collection of women artists was something that really attracted me. Once at the college I became student art rep, and still sit on the college art committee and film committee, and do some tours of the art collection. From the end of my second year I knew I wanted to carry on to do an MPhil in Medieval and Renaissance Literature, and thanks to the New Hall Graduate Studentship I was able to do this. I did my PhD on Tudor prison literature. It has been a joy to study at New Hall, where I have received all the academic guidance and emotional support I needed. |
