How the gift will be spent
The donation of £30million from Ros and Steve Edwards will form the basis of the College's capital endowment fund, which means that the income from the donation can be used but the initial capital cannot be spent. The gift is being given over ten years in annual instalments of £3 million, starting in 2005. Once the whole gift has been received the donation will generate income of £1.2million pa. This income is intended for the general purposes of the College, and the Edwards placed no restrictions on the way in which the income was to be used.
In 2005 the College's Governing Body reviewed and set out the aims and objectives of the College, and identified ten spending priorities. The donors endorsed the Governing Body's spending priorities, and are keen that we achieve these within ten years using the additional income generated by the new endowment.
Murray Edwards College/New Hall is a Registered Charity (Registration No. 1137530).
