Murray Edwards Virtual Tour |
Murray Edwards GardensMurray Edward's gardens are designed and managed by Jo Cobb, Head Gardner, and her team and reflect a wide range of influences. From the Gram Parsons-influenced 'magic roundabout' to the Bollywood border, the Orchard to the Herb garden, Storey's Way car park to the Fellows' garden each has a theme, whether it be bold colours, a woodland environment or the texture and scent of edible plants. In addition, the gardens also act as an outdoor gallery for items from the Art Collection, such as Ascending Form (Gloria) by Dame Barbara Hepworth in Orchard Court, Cow by Nicola Hicks and Mask II by Annie Tappenden in Storey's Way car park. Unlike some other Colleges, the gardens at Murray Edwards are not just for looking at. Students can lie on the grass and relax or revise, pick flowers or fruit, walk through the Orchard or swing on the chair hidden behind a beautiful bed of flowers adjacent to the greenhouse. At other times, for both students and conference guests, the gardens play host to garden parties and other events such as Vibe, the College's May week event.
