International New Hall Society Day
Friday 8 March 2013
Following the success of its first two years, next year's International New Hall Society Day will take place on Friday 8 March 2013. Alumnae are encouraged to meet together in groups large or small, on or around Friday 8 March, to celebrate the College and its community with friends old and new.
The flagship event will be a Formall Hall in College, and all alumnae are warmly invited to use their dining rights to enjoy a complimentary dinner that evening. Guests are also welcome to attend at the special rate of £15.50 per person.
Even if you cannot be in Cambridge on the day, we hope you will be able to take part by hosting or attending smaller satellite events closer to home.
You can see a list of the events planned for this year's International Day here.
If there is no event planned for your local area, why not think about organising one? The Development Office would be happy to put you in contact with other local alumnae and help publicise your event. For further information, please contact the Development Officer, Rosie Ince, on +44 (0)1223 762288, or alumnae@murrayedwards.cam.ac.uk.
FAQs
What is International New Hall Society Day
International New Hall Society Day began in 2011, with the aim of encouraging as many alumnae as possible to meet up or get in touch with each other and to help strengthen links within the alumnae community.
Why the 8th of March?
In 2011, the inaugural International Day was held on Friday 11th March, as it was on this day in 1954 that the College was founded as an unincorporated association to promote a third foundation for women in the University of Cambridge. Next year, the 8th of March has been chosen, as this is the closest Friday to the foundation day.
The 8th of March is also International Women's Day, which is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. This makes it the ideal day to celebrate the achievements of our alumnae and all that the College stands for.
How can I get involved?
We hope that as many alumnae as possible will take part in the celebrations in one way or another.
If you will be in the Cambridge area on the day, why not use your dining rights to join us in College for a complimentary Formal Hall?
If you can't be in Cambridge then do look out for events in your local area, or you could organise one yourself. There are no restrictions to the kind of event you can organise - any event, large or small, that encourages alumnae to get together would be wonderful. You could meet for drinks or a meal, or perhaps arrange to visit a museum or gallery together - it's entirely up to you!
How can the Development Office help?
If you are interested in organising an event, please get in touch with the Development Officer, Rosie Ince, who will be happy to help you. She can put you in touch with other alumnae living in your local area and can also help publicise your event.
You can contact Rosie by emailing alumnae@murrayedwards.cam.ac.uk, or by calling +44 (0)1223 762288.
