International New Hall Society Day
Friday 9th March 2012
Following the success of its inaugural year, we are starting to plan for International New Hall Society Day 2012. Alumnae are encouraged to meet together in groups large or small, on or around Friday 9th March, to celebrate the College and its community with friends old and new.
The flagship event will be a Formall Hall in College, and you are warmly invited to use your dining rights to enjoy a complimentary dinner that evening. Guests are welcome at the special rate of £15.55 per person. The booking deadline for the Formal Hall is 28th February 2012.
Even if you cannot be in Cambridge on the day, we hope you will be able to take part by hosting or attending smaller satellite events closer to home, from coffee mornings and dinners to Skype conversations. In 2011, events took place in Australia, Johannesburg, Delhi, Hong Kong, Stirling, London, Hampshire and High Wycombe, and we hope that there will be even more this year.
If no event took place in your area in 2011, why not organise one yourself for 2012? The Development Office are happy to put you in contact with other local alumnae and help publicise your event. For further information, please contact the Development Officer, Rosie Ince, on 01223 762288, or alumnae@murrayedwards.cam.ac.uk.

FAQs
What is International New Hall Society Day
International New Hall Society Day began in 2011, with the aim of encouraging as many alumnae as possible to meet up or get in touch with each other and to help strengthen links within the alumnae community.
Why the 9th of March?
In 2011, the inaugural International Day was held on Friday 11th March, as it was on this day in 1954 that the College was founded as an unincorporated association to promote a third foundation for women in the University of Cambridge. This year, the 9th of March has been chosen, as this is the closest Friday to the foundation day.
The day is also very close to International Women's Day (8th March), which is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. This makes it the ideal time to celebrate the achievements of our alumnae and all that the College stands for.
How can I get involved?
We hope that as many alumnae as possible will take part in the celebrations in one way or another.
If you will be in the Cambridge area on the day, why not use your dining rights to join us in College for a complimentary Formal Hall?
If you can't be in Cambridge on the day then do look out for events in your local area, or you could organise one yourself. There are no restrictions to the kind of event you can organise - any event, large or small, that encourages alumnae to meet together would be wonderful. You could meet for drinks or a meal or perhaps arrange to visit a museum or gallery together - it's entirely up to you!
You could even set yourself a challenge, for example; how many alumnae can you get wearing College scarves? Or, what is the biggest range in ages you can get at one event?
How can the Development Office help?
If you are interested in organising an event, please get in touch with the Development Officer, Rosie Ince, who will be happy to help you. She can help you get in touch with alumnae living in your local area and can also help publicise your event via the College's website and Facebook page.
You can contact Rosie by emailing alumnae@murrayedwards.cam.ac.uk, or by telephone on 01223 762288.
