    Head of Philanthropy 

    £45,000-50,000 per annum (Job Band 2) 

    Full time, 37.5 hours per week

    We now seek to appoint a new Head of Philanthropy as a key member of the Development Team. Working closely with the Director of Development, President and wider Fellowship, the Head of Philanthropy will manage major gift prospect activity and raise funds to support the strategic objectives of the College. The Head of Philanthropy will manage and develop a portfolio of relationships and undertake prospect and donor visits, to ask alumnae and others for philanthropic support the College. Reporting directly to the Director of Development, the Head of Philanthropy will be responsible for managing the Philanthropy Officer. 

    It is an exciting time to join Murray Edwards: now in our 70th year we need to push frontiers in all aspects of our work. We’ll invest in attracting students from all backgrounds, seeking out those who might not traditionally consider a Cambridge education. We’ll transform support for students, notably for post-graduate study – which is now mandatory for success across many professions. We’ll invest in this extraordinary site, enhancing buildings and facilities that have started to show their age. And we’ll support our brilliant Fellowship and academic community by endowing core posts and investing in the pastoral and academic support we provide. The Head of Philanthropy will make a major contribution to this vision by securing long-term philanthropic support.

    Head Porter 

    £37,000 per annum (Job Band 4) 

    Full Time 37.5 hours per week 

    Murray Edwards College is seeking to appoint a Head Porter to lead its team of College Porters and to be the face of the College to the public, students, staff and Fellows. 

    The Head Porter has responsibility for the Porters’ Lodge, our College reception, which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  The Porters’ Lodge is the first point of contact for most visitors, students, staff and Fellows arriving to the College, offering a warm welcome and knowledgeable answers to varied enquiries. 

    Our team of Porters take care of security including key and access management, reception duties, cash handling, mail handling, and responding to incidents such as fire alarms or intruders, first aid provision, and student welfare support.   

    Our ideal candidate will be customer-service focussed, who likes to work alongside their team to ensure a warm, efficient and professional service is offered at all times.  They will have previous experience of leading a team, have the ability to remain calm under pressure, and a very good understanding of security and fire safety issues.

    Events Intern  

    £23,400 per annum  

    Full time, 37.5 hours per week 

    Fixed-term contract starting mid-June and ending at the end of August 

    Murray Edwards College is seeking an Events Intern to help support our Events Team during our busy summer period. 

    You will assist the team in organising and delivering events, focusing particularly on our Summer Schools programme.  

    You will need to be highly organised, have good customer service skills and excellent attention to detail. 

    This is an ideal role for a student, particularly those who are studying event management or equivalent.

    Electrician 

    £34,000 per annum (Job Band 6) 

    Full time 37.5 hours per week 

    Murray Edwards College is seeking an electrician to form a crucial part of our maintenance team.  

    Our electrician is responsible for the maintenance of our electrical, security, fire, heating and mechanical wired systems. This will include the inspection and testing of the systems and planning of any required maintenance. The role requires proactive and reactive work across a wide range of challenges throughout the College and its buildings. 

    You will be a fully qualified electrician with at least City & Guilds, 17th Edition and be willing to work towards your 18th Edition. You also will have British Standard 7671, Test Inspection 2391 or earlier and PAT Certificate 2377.

    Casual Waiting Staff 

    £12 per hour 

    Murray Edwards College is looking for Casual Waiting Staff to start work in the College Catering Department. The role will involve carrying out a variety of tasks to assist in the delivery of catering services in all the College rooms as required and maintaining a high level of food service. This is a 0 hour contract, with flexible hours of work during the day. A variety of shifts are available throughout the week, and a free meal per shift is included. The salary for Casual Waiting Staff is £10.90 per hour.  No experience is required, as full training will be provided.
