Murray Edwards alumna publishes her first bookThursday 1st December 2011Murray Edwards alumna Dr Férdia Stone-Davis (1996) published her first book, Musical Beauty: Negotiating the Boundary between Subject and Object, with Cascade Books earlier this year. Musical Beauty offers an important new perspective on the Western tradition of musical aesthetics through an examination of Anicius Boethius and Immanuel Kant, and asserts that the uniqueness of music's ontology emerges from its basis in sound and embodied practice. Dr Stone-Davis read Theology at Murray Edwards from 1996-1999 before going on to study for an MPhil and PhD, both at Jesus College. She also received an MMus (Performance Studies) from Trinity College of Music, London and is an accomplished performer of medieval, renaissance, baroque and contemporary recorder repertoire.
